Athlete Story - Aaron Vega

I am doing stuff at Nasty Habit CrossFit I have never done in my life and I am doing things I never thought I could.

I was looking for something for me, I was needing something physical to change my routine, to lose some weight, to find some challenges and support to stay focused; that's when I found Nasty Habit CrossFit. Like many I heard about CrossFit but didn't think it was for me. I had a yoga practice but I needed something more, I was worried CrossFit would just be all the hype and over the top aspects of the gym scene I didn't like. Thankfully I was wrong.

The coaches, the other athletes and especially David Vooris are all welcoming, encouraging and supportive. The coaches here encourage you but do not push you. They are focused on form and function over the amount of weight you can lift. The coaches are able to provide modifications when needed, they point out the finer parts of the movement and they are there when you challenge yourself and explore your own goals.

My workouts at NHCF have given me the change in routine I needed, no more getting up and going in front of the computer first thing in the morning. My workouts at NHCF have given me the focus and challenges I was looking for. I have lost the weight I wanted to and kept it off. I have made new friends and I am doing things I have never done in my life or even thought I could just over a 1 year ago.

The other athletes at NHCF are always welcoming and there to cheer you on, even at 6am! We come from all walks of life, we're all working on different goals but all come together to work hard.

I have never considered myself an athlete or been called one until I came to NHCF and it has been an empowering experience.

I am thankful every day for the recommendation to check out Nasty Habit CrossFit and I look forward to the WOD every day, even when there is running involved!
